Half naked in cinema theatre: Police foil youngster's bizarre robbery plan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A miscreant who used to rob people's wallets inside cinema halls mostly during nighttime has been finally placed behind bars. Vipin (34) a Wayanad native was arrested in Kazhakuttam while engaging in his bizarre endeavours at a theatre in the city. Attingal police took Vipin into custody and a questioning session is in progress. He was caught red-handed by the theatre employees while trying to commit a similar-style robbery at Harishree Cinemas in Kazhakuttam.

The other day, Attingal police received complaints of missing wallets from people who came to watch the second show at Attingal Ganga Theatre. This complaint necessitated the need for a detailed search in all nearby theatres and the CCTV visuals were procured. The search was going on when news came about a similar style theft being caught red-handed by employees in Kazhakuttam. It is learned that Vipin is a history-sheeter and has also been under the lens of Thampanoor police.

Vipin adheres to strange ways while committing theft. After purchasing tickets for movies, he will move to a secluded area in the theatre. From here, he will undress and become half-naked. Later, the man will crawl behind the seats of others and will adroitly take away their wallets without even making the owners twitch in doubt. After committing the theft, the young man will return to his seat dressed and sit in a dignified manner. After the movie ends, he will get down and escape. People mostly engrossed in the movie, would only realize their wallets missing after coming out from the theatre.

A few days ago, some young ladies lost their purses inside the Attingal Ganga Theatre. After being informed by them, the employees checked the CCTV footage and found the culprit.
