NEW DELHI: A millet song conceived by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 'Abundance in Millets' has won a 2024 Grammy nomination. The nomination is in the Best Global Music Performance category. PM Modi even tweeted the good news on social media platform X.
PM Modi proposed such a song to celebrate the International Year of the Millets, which was declared this year by the UN. According to singer Falguni Shah, PM Modi contributed to the lyrics and took part in the composing session giving his creative insights. In the video, PM Modi also makes a small appearance.
Modi government has been steadfast in promoting the nutritious perks of using millet and the ways by which millet could alleviate poverty in the country. PM Modi in the video song says India will proudly lead from the front as the world celebrates the International Year of Millets.
The video album was produced by Kenya Autie. The song was released in June 2023 and was well received. ‘ What If We Changed the World’ is the starting line in the song. There is also a call to nurture Bajra, Makka Cholam and Ragi grains annually. The turning point came when Falguni visited Prime Minister Modi after winning the Grammy Award in 2022. PM Modi came up with the idea of writing a song about the nutritious millet during the international millet year. 'A song on the concept of fighting hunger by embracing the power of music ' was PM Modi’s core idea, says Falguni.
