Actor Shane Nigam responded on the death sentence awarded to the accused in the case of raping and murdering a five-yar-old girl in Aluva. ‘That scoundrel deserved nothing less than the death penalty’, mentioned the actor in a Facebook post. Many are coming forward supporting the actor. Many opined that you are becoming the voice of the people and what you said is right.
The Facebook post shared by Shane Nigam in the wake of the Kalamassery blast was also widely noticed. The actor in his post requested to understand the mistakes from the lapses and find solutions. In a social media post, the actor also mentioned that it would be good if there were some guidelines for mass-participation events. Guidelines were also shared where people gather.
Meantime, the court awarded death penalty to Asafak Alam of Bihar in the Aluva case. The POCSO Court awarded the sentence on Children’s Day. The prosecution was able to establish four charges on him punishable by death.
The verdict was pronounced by Ernakulam POCSO Court judge K Soman. It is also special that the sentence was pronounced on the day the POCSO laws came into force in the country. The prosecution had argued that the crime committed by the accused was extremely rare. Out of the 16 charges imposed against the accused, the court had earlier found him guilty on 13 counts.
