Rains to intensify in state today; threat of low pressure, red, yellow alerts in various districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central meteorological department has warned of heavy rainfall in various districts of the state today. The central meteorological department informed that there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode in the next three hours.

A low pressure area of easterly winds is located from the Comorin region to the coast of central-west Andhra Pradesh. The meteorological department said as a result of this, there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunder and lightning in Kerala for the next five days. There is a warning that heavy rain may occur at isolated places from November 21-24 and very heavy rain at isolated places from November 21-23.


The central meteorological department has issued orange and yellow alerts in various districts.

Orange alert

23-11-2023: Pathanamthitta, Idukki

Yellow alert
22-11-2023: Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Malappuram
23-11-2023: Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam
24-11-2023: Ernakulam
