THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI is planning to hand over the charge of party state secretary to someone else before the Lok Sabha elections. This is because the state secretary Kanam Rajendran has to stay away due to health reasons. A decision may be taken in the upcoming CPI leadership meetings.
At present, consideration is being given to giving preference to National Executive members from the state in Lok Sabha election campaign activities. Apart from Kanam Rajendran, the national executive consists of Kerala members Binoy Viswam, K Prakash Babu and P Santhosh Kumar. Kanam and Binoy Vishwam are also members of the National Secretariat. Prakash Babu and Binoy Viswam were actively considered for the post of state secretary. If Binoy Vishwam is considered for Lok Sabha candidature, Prakash Babu will have a chance. Party Assistant Secretaries E Chandrasekharan and PP Suneer are also being asked to be considered.
The task is mainly to coordinate the activities before the Lok Sabha elections. In the absence of Kanam, the party does not respond properly on many issues. Assistant secretaries generally do not comment on such matters. During the election, many things will have to be responded to.
