Aparna and Yasser get caught using MDMA during police search; Kannur's drug gang busted

KANNUR: Four people, including a young woman, were arrested on Saturday for possessing drugs worth lakhs of rupees. Kannur town police arrested C. Rizwan (22), a native of Puthiyatheru, T. P. Dilshid (33), a native of Maidanapally, Rizwan's brother Muhammad Yasser (26), and Aparna Anish (19), native of Marakarkandy. The police conducted the search operation in two locations and later arrested the gang.

Yasser and Aparna were using drugs when the police reached the lodge in Kannur. Police recovered 1.4 grams of MDMA from their hands. They were later taken into custody and interrogated and based on the information received, Rizwan and Dilshid were arrested from the building under construction near Talap John Mill. 156.61 grams of MDMA, 111.72 grams of hashish oil, three mobile phones, eight bottles used for pouring hashish oil and 19 envelopes used for selling MDMA were seized from both of them.

On the basis of the information provided by Yasser and Aparna, the Anti-Narcotics Special Squad and the Kannur Town Police reached the building under construction at around 9 pm last night. When the officials reached the second floor of the building, they saw an old fridge and some youngsters near it.

As soon as both of them saw the police, they hid their bags and tried to get up and leave. When the police checked Rizwan, they found MDMA in his pants pocket. 27 bottles of hashish oil were also seized from Rizwan's bag.

The police said that the hashish oil was kept for sale by Mohammad Yasser and a receipt of Rs 41000 was received from the bag. The police termed the duo the main link for drug sales in Kannur. The police are also investigating further into the drug chain business in Kannur.
