KOCHI: A holiday has been given to the university as a mark of respect to the students who lost their lives in the CUSAT tragedy. The university will pay their respects to their dear students. A condolence meeting will be held at the school of management studies auditorium at 10:30 am on Monday. Exams scheduled to be held today have been postponed after the holiday was announced. The revised dates will be notified later.
Meanwhile, the condition of the two girls seriously injured in the accident and undergoing treatment is still critical. Gitanjali from Alappuzha and Sheba from Malappuram are in the ICU of Kochi Aster Medcity. 34 people are presently under treatment.
Meantime, Supreme Court lawyer Subhash Theekkadan filed a complaint with the Kalamassery police demanding that a case be filed against the vice-chancellor and the organizers in the wake of the tragedy. A case of unnatural death has been registered in the tragedy that killed four. The Save University Campaign Committee has also submitted a memorandum to the chief minister demanding a judicial inquiry, alleging that the accident was caused by the negligence of the university authorities.
