MALAPPURAM: The state government has rescinded the order issued by the Malappuram District Education Officer (DDE) mandating school students' participation in the Navakerala Sadas. This decision was clarified in the Kerala High Court where the court firmly stated that child exploitation is unacceptable. The court also questioned the motive behind such orders, asking whom the officers were trying to please.
The government pledged to investigate the circumstances surrounding the issuance of the controversial order. The court has subsequently closed the proceedings regarding the petition against compelling school children to participate and the directive to release school buses.
The government's action follows the announcement that the contentious order has been withdrawn. Today, the Navakerala Sadas is taking place in Malappuram district. The morning meeting was conducted in Tirur at 9 am, followed by the first program in the Ponnani constituency at 11 am. Scheduled events include gatherings in Tavanur at 3 pm, Tirur constituency at 4:30 pm and Thanur constituency at 6 pm.
Security measures have been intensified in the area in anticipation of the Navakerala Sadas.
