Elderly tribal woman found infested with worms; Minister Radhakrishnan seeks explanation

CHALAKKUDY: Minister K Radhakrishnan has sought an explanation from the tribal department about the incident where an old tribal woman was found infested with worms in her house in Malakkappara. Beddridden Kamalamma Paatti (94) of Veerankudi Colony, was found infested with worms. She had suffered burns six months ago. It was the burned body part that got infested with worms.

Minister Radhakrishnan instructed that Kamalamma be admitted to the hospital and given necessary medical attention. A team from the family health centre visited the colony along with a palliative care team. Although Kamalamma's two children resided in a nearby house, she stayed alone in the shed.
