KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has ordered to carry out a recounting in the election for the post of chairman of the college union of Sree Kerala Varma College in Thrissur. It also annulled the victory of SFI candidate Anirudhan KS. The court issued the order on the petition of KSU leader Sreekuttan.
Sreekuttan said that he is very happy with the court's verdict. In his petition, Sreekuttan had demanded to annul the current election result and order for a re-election. However, the court refused to annul the election.
Originally, Sreekuttan had won by one vote in the initial count. However, in the recount, SFI candidate KS Anirudh was declared the winner by ten votes. Following this, KSU alleged that the election was sabotaged with the support of the supporters of the left teachers' organization. Sreekuttan then approached the High Court.
KSU had also alleged that Minister R Bindu and Cochin Devaswom Board president had interfered to sabotage the counting of votes.
