Was woman part of abducting and abandoning Abigail caught by police? Manhunt continues for 'boss'

KOLLAM: As per reports, the woman who left Abigail in the Asramam grounds in the heart of Kollam at around 1 pm yesterday was taken into custody. It is suspected that she is the niece of the notorious thief who masterminded the incident. Reports claim that the woman was caught from near Kollam Shankers Hospital around 2.30 pm. She is accused in cases including chit fraud and are being interrogated under the leadership of DIG Nishanthini.

In the incident, the police intensified their search for a man who was a notorious thief and gangster from Chandanathop's Kuzhiyam. His house and the houses of his friends were searched but could not be found.

In the phone call made by the kidnapped woman demanding 10 lakhs, it was said that everything was as per the instructions of the boss. The police assumes that he is the boss.

In addition to many theft cases, he is accused in cases of goon attack and extortion. There are five cases of theft in his name at Kollam West station alone.

He had shifted from Mulankara near Ramankulangara to Chandanathop several years ago. He has served jail time in a theft case. His neighbours told the police that they don't see much lately. His elder brother is lodged in Chennai Central Jail in a murder case. The elder brother's daughter is also suspected to be the woman in the kidnapping gang.
