Every child is 'VIP', not showpieces: Kerala HC

KOCHI: The High Court on Tuesday said that every child is a 'VIP' and they are not showpieces. Justice Devan Ramachandran said this in a petition filed by MSF State President PK Nawaz against the Malappuram District Deputy Director of Education's order to release school children for the Navakerala Yathra.

"Children's dignity should be respected. The government says the order to enroll the students was wrong, but they are being enrolled. Why does the government justify officials who show greater royal devotion than the king? The argument that the children are not taken away by force cannot be accepted. If the teachers say so, the children will go", the single bench said when the petitioner pointed out that children were made to participate even after the AD had assured otherwise. The High Court adjourned the plea to Thursday for hearing the government's detailed stand.
