Tension simmers over Hindu student's relationship with Kashmiri Muslim girl

There is an outrage taking place at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar against a Maharashtra-based student on charges of blasphemy. Muslim students of the institution have taken to the streets in protest and have asked for the rustication of the accused.

Considering the tumultuous happening in the institution, the police have booked the Maharashtra-based student on Wednesday. However, during the inspection, it was found that the student only shared an old video of Hamas founder Sheik Hussain Yousef’s estranged son Mosab critiquing Prophet Muhammad. This was shared on his Instagram story.

An FIR has been filed in Nigeen Police Station against the student for the alleged blasphemous charges. But delving more deeply into the case, it was evident that the issue has more than what meets the eye. It was the accused Hindu youth's relationship with a Kashmiri girl that irked the native youths. A narrative was spread across the university and the regions nearby, about a purported ‘Bhagwa Trap’ that implies Hindu youths luring Kashmiri girls.

The online mob meanwhile publicized the pictures of both, while they crookedly blurred the picture of the girl while the youngster’s image was revealed making everyone identify him. Some hours later, death threats reached the youth who had to flee the NIT for his home in Maharashtra. According to reports, death threats have also reached the Kashmiri girl.

“Men spill blood for the nation (Kashmir) and women like these just pee on it”; this was one of the derogatory comments that critiqued the girl's relationship with the NIT student. Some others have vowed to chop down the Kashmiri girl to pieces for her ‘deceiving act’. It is learned that the college officials have put the student on forced leave until the situation ebbs in the institution.
