"I dare you to release them, we'll show punishment...": Locals protest against persons accused of abducting child

KOLLAM: Locals protested against persons accused of abducting a six-year-old girl here. Pooyapally police have arrested KR Padmakumar (52), his wife MR Anithakumari (45) and daughter Anupama (20) from Kollam's Chathannoor in connection with the case.

According to the police, Padmakumar and his wife planned to kidnap the children. Their daughter, who is a social media influencer, later joined them. The accused were transferred from the AR camp to Pooyapally station afternoon. This is where the locals including women gathered and protested.

'Tell them to bring her down here, we'll show them what the punishment is. Are you covering her up after they kidnapped a small kid. I dare you to release them. We will show you the punishment. If I can get my hands on them, I will tear them to pieces and salt them. She put the child in a cowshed for a day. We know where she was laid.'- said a local woman.

Meanwhile, ADGP Ajith Kumar responded that the accused had severe financial problems after Covid period. They thought of making money for a year. The accused carried out their plans after this. The first number plate was made a year ago. The second number plate was made recently. The plan was dropped in between and attempts were started again. The ADGP stated that he regularly took a car and went to many places in search of children who could be abducted.
