‘Killed, now call the police,’ youth strangles wife using a shawl on suspicion of illicit relations

KOTTAYAM: A youth, who suspected his wife of having extra marital relations strangulated her using a shawl. Saneesh Joseph of Madapally Panpuzha Arakkal House brutally murdered his wife Siji (35). The shocking and brutal incident happened on Thursday evening at 6.30 pm. The youth, who fled after committing the crime was nabbed from Thengana.

Siji is the second wife of the accused. There were frequent fights between the two. Saneesh was earlier remanded in the case of trying to kill his wife by pouring acid. He committed the act now after he was released on bail.

Siji was found dead by the neighbors who came rushing hearing a commotion near the couple's house. The locals said Saneesh, who was there in the spot, threatened the neighbors and stopped them. He ran after saying 'killed, now call the police'.

The two, who had been living together for nine years, registered their marriage on July 6. They have a four-year-old child. Saneesh had questioned Siji after seeing her making a video call to a person a few days ago. The verbal dispute over this ended in the murder. Siji is a sales staff of a textile shop in Changanassery and Saneesh had worked as a driver in various organizations.
