THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dr Ruwise, the main accused in the suicide of Dr Shahna has filed a bail application in the Thiruvananthapuram Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Saturday. The court will consider the matter on Monday.
Meanwhile, the police look to thwart the bail attempt by submitting another request for the custody period of Ruwise. The police will also inform the court that if granted bail, the accused will tamper the case affecting the further investigation. The police expect to unearth more details about the suicide with detailed questioning of Ruwise.
At the same time, police also look to take into custody Ruwise’s father, who is doubted to be equally culpable in Shahna’s suicide. Ruwise’s father is still at large while a case was registered under sections 306 (incitement to suicide) and 34 of the IPC and the Dowry Prohibition Act.
Ruwise’s house was found locked when the police reached the spot for questioning the accused’s father. Shahna's relatives blamed Ruwise’s father for coercing his son to demand more dowry for the marriage to take place.
A case has been registered on the complaint that dowry harassment led to suicide. The close relatives of the accused are still absconding. The police have decided to record the statements of Ruwise and Shahna's friends.
