The Kerala State Beverages Corporation (Bevco), which was reeling under losses, is expected to make a profit of Rs 68 crore by the end of the current financial year. In the last financial year, Rs 56 crore profit was made. Bevco, which suffered from a loss of 10 crores during the Covid period, made this incredible comeback with crisp planning.
It was IPS officer Yogesh Gupta’s excellent administrative skills that paved the way for BEVCO’s resurgence. Rs 18,000 crore turnover was achieved last year. 90 per cent of this goes to the government exchequer as various taxes. The corporation is running the remaining 10 per cent. The turnover will increase significantly in the current financial year as well. In the interview with Kerala Kaumudi, Yogesh Gupta stated that another source of income is the margin earned by supplying alcohol to retail outlets.
