KOCHI: The High Court on Thursday criticized the demolition of a school compound wall for Navakerala Sadas. The court asked why the school wall was being demolished and whether funds from the public exchequer were being spent on it. The court criticized the government in a petition to change the Navakerala Sadas to be held at Chakkuvalli temple ground in Kollam.
The criticism of the court's division bench, consisting of Justices Anil K Narendran and G Girish, was regarding the demolition of a Devaswom school in Kollam in connection with the Navakerala Sadas. To this, the government replied that it just happened. The court asked who bears the responsibility of the program, directed to add the chief secretary as a party in the case and produce the site plan.
The court further directed the district collector, who is the nodal officer of the Navakerala Sadas, and the Devaswom Board to reply in this regard. The petition has been adjourned for further consideration tomorrow.
Yesterday, the High Court directed to produce a copy of the order permitting to hold the Navakerala Sadas at Chakkuvalli Parabrahmakshetra ground in Kollam. Navakerala Sadas will be held here on December 18. The petition against this was filed by Jayakumar, a native of Kollam's Kunnathur, and Omanakuttan Pillai, a native of Mainakapally, questioning the permit for conducting the event at the temple ground.
