CANBERA: The court sentenced a woman to one-year rigorous imprisonment for throwing her pet dog from the top of the building. The Midland Magistrate Court pronounced the verdict against Amy Leah Judge (26) of Perth. The woman showed cruelty to a ten-year-old Maltese Shih Tzu mix dog named 'Princess'. The incident happened in April last year.
The prosecutor stated that what the woman did was a cruel and vile act. The court responded that Amy deliberately threw the dog away. The woman has confessed to the crime. The court sentenced her to ten months rigorous imprisonment for harassing the pet dog and two months more for lying to the police.
After the incident came to light, the woman had confessed to the crime through social media. Amy said, 'I can't live because of guilt. I threw the dog from the top of the two-storied building.' Later, the animal welfare department intervened in the incident. The police arrested Amy later. The dog sustained serious head and spine injuries and the passers-by took the dog to the hospital.
