Woman pregnant with twins set on fire by husband after tying her to bed

AMRITSAR: In a ghastly incident, a man set on fire his pregnant wife after an argument. The woman, aged 23, was six months pregnant. After an argument, he tied his wife to a bed and set her on fire. The shocking incident happened on Friday at Bullenangal village near Amritsar in Punjab. Pinky was expecting twins. Relatives said the couple fights regularly. After an heated argument on Friday, her husband Sukhdev killed his wife.

The brutal murder shocked the local community of the village. Sukhdev fled after the incident. The police said they have intensified search for him. The National Commission for Women strongly condemned it and sought a detailed report from Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab.

'Appalled by the horrifying incident in Amritsar where a man allegedly set his pregnant wife on fire. The brutality of this act is unimaginable. Hon’ble Chairperson NCW @sharmarekha has written a letter to DGP Punjab to arrest the perpetrator and submit an action report in three days,' they wrote on X.
