THRISSUR∙ The persons accused in a property fraud case registered by actor Gautami were caught from Kunnamkulam. C. Alagappan, his wife Nachiammal and two other family members, who are the main accused in the case were caught by the Chennai Crime Branch from a rented house, where they were hiding, in Choondal in Kunnamkulam. The Madras High Court had blocked the anticipatory bail plea of the main accused Alagappan. The Central Crime Branch had issued a lookout notice against them.
According to the complaint filed at the Chennai Commissioner's Office, Gautami's alleges that property worth Rs 25 crore was misappropriated by forging documents. Gautami gave power of attorney to Alagappan to sell land worth Rs 25 crore near Sriperumputhur. At that time she signed some papers on assurance that these bonds will not be misused. However, Alagappan and his wife allegedly cheat Gautami by putting fake signatures and threatening her.
Gautami resigned from the BJP claiming that the party and its members had failed to help her at the time of need. She further alleged that the higher-ups of party had been helping Alagappan, who is also a BJP worker, even though she asked for help. After the resignation of the actress, the police filed a case against 6 people including Alagappan, his wife, son and daughter-in-law under 5 sections like fraud and land encroachment.
