Man gives triple talaq to wife after she donates kidney to brother

LUCKNOW: A man pronounced triple talaq to his wife after she donated her kidney to her ailing brother. The incident happened at Bairiyahi village in Uttar Pradesh. Her husband Rashid working in Saudi Arabia gave her triple talaq over WhatsApp. The police have registered a case on the complaint of the woman.

The woman’s brother was undergoing treatment in a hospital in Mumbai. The woman agreed to donate her kidney after the doctor disclosed that his life is in danger if it is not transplanted. She then informed her husband in Saudi. The incident happened five months ago.

Her in-laws behaved badly when she returned home after the surgery. Rashid demanded Rs 40 lakh from his brother-in-law in exchange for the kidney donated. When she refused to comply with the demand, he gave her triple talaq on August 30. However, she complained to the police when she could not bear the hostility from her in-laws. Triple talaq was made illegal from 2019.
