Murder of elderly couple: Son hangs himself

MOOLAMATTOM: The man, who was wanted by the police in the case of the murder of his father and mother, committed suicide by hanging. The deceased is Moolamattom Cheradi native Ajesh K. Kumar (37) died. The dead body was found hanging from a tree near the Jalandhar stream close to the house

Thodupuzha DySP Emmanuel Paul said that Ajesh hanged himself after killing his parents Kumaran (78) and Thangamani (65) at home. Kumaran and Thankamani were seen lying in a pool of blood on Wednesday morning. Although relatives, locals and police searched for Ajesh, they could not find him. Ajesh, who was a regular alcoholic, had shown violent behaviour in the past few days.

On Tuesday night, Kumaran's relatives brought Ajesh home with head injuries after treatment. After they left, Ajesh had an altercation with his parents. Kumaran had two cuts on his head and a deep cut on the back of his neck. Thankamma had cuts on her hand, head and cheek. Neighbours had heard noise from the house on Tuesday as well. Police said that Ajesh had family disputes with his parents.
