SRINAGAR: The recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district has resulted in the injury of one more soldier increasing the death toll of Indian soldiers to four. The attack occurred as terrorists ambushed military vehicles in the Dera Ki Gali area of Surankot with an ongoing encounter reported.
The anti-terror operation initiated Wednesday night continues in the Kalakote area of Rajouri district. The attack targeted a truck and a gypsy carrying soldiers prompting a firefight when they reached Thanamandi area at 3.45 am. The army responded with strong retaliation, and additional forces have been deployed to the area.
This marks the second terrorist attack on forces within a month following last month's incident where five soldiers, including two captains lost their lives. Despite relative calm since 2003, the area has now become a hotspot for terrorist activities. Over the past two years, 35 soldiers have lost their lives in terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
