NEW DELHI: Wrestlers are continuing with their protest against the failure to take action against the former president of the wrestling federation, Brijbhushan Singh, who is facing allegations of sexual assault. In protest, wrestler Vinesh Phogat returned the Khel Ratna and the Arjuna Award. Vinesh returned after leaving the awards at Kartavya Path. The wrestlers are continuing to protest in front of the Prime Minister's office.

Vinesh Phogat had earlier announced that she would return the Khel Ratna and Arjuna awards. In an open letter to the Prime Minister, Vinesh alleged that when wrestlers win medals, they are considered the pride of the country and branded as traitors when they demand justice.

Wrestler Sakshi Malik had announced her retirement after Brij Bhushan Singh's confidant Sanjay Singh became the president of the wrestling federation. Bajrang Punia and Virender returned their Padma Shri awards. Vinesh Phogat also returned her awards after this.
