NEW DELHI: The court has granted bail to Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan in sexual harassment complaint against wrestlers. Brij Bhushan and Federation Assistant Secretary Vinod Tomar, who are currently on interim bail, were granted conditional bail by the Delhi Rose Avenue Court. The interim bail granted to both of them last Tuesday expired today.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harjeet Singh Jaspal directed accused persons to furnish a personal bail bond of Rs 25,000 each. The Court also imposed several bail conditions that the accused shall directly or indirectly not induce the complainants or witnesses and shall not leave the country without the permission of the court.
He shall not leave the country without the permission of the court, the court said.
The Delhi Police had submitted two photographs in the court yesterday as the main evidence of Brij Bhushan abusing a female wrestler during an international match held in Kazakhstan in 2019. However, Additional Public Prosecutor Atul Shrivastava told the court that the investigation team has not yet recorded the arrest of the BJP MP. The government lawyer said that the court can decide whether Brij Bhushan should be granted bail in the sexual complaint of the stars. The lawyer, however, demanded that the accused should not influence the witnesses.
