Series of accidents on New Year's Day; Three youths dead

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Three youths lost their lives in separate accidents on New Year's Day marking a tragic start to the year in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. The capital city witnessed a bike collision resulting in the death of Syed Ali from Pachallur and Shibin from Jagathi. The incident occurred around midnight when the two bikes collided on their way to Thiruvallam.

Meanwhile, in Kozhikode, a student identified as Adil Farhan (16) met with a fatal accident while returning from a New Year's Eve celebration at Vellayil. Adil, a native of Balushery Panangad was struck by a train under the Gandhi Road flyover near Vellayil railway station around 1 am. He had been at Kozhikode beach with friends and was riding one of two scooters that encountered the unfortunate accident while navigating an alley due to main road blockades. Adil lost his life in the collision while the others accompanying him remained unharmed. His body rests at Kozhikode Medical College awaiting post-mortem examination before release to his relatives.

In another accident at Malappuram Vaniyambalam railway station, a passenger named Mathew from Kaalikavu sustained severe injuries after being struck by a train while walking along the tracks. The incident, occurring around 4 pm on a preceding day, led to Mathew's transfer to a nearby private hospital alongside other passengers and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel. Reports indicate serious injuries to Mathew's limbs as a result of the unfortunate accident.
