Fake Telegram account in the name of CM, circulated through WhatsApp; Investigation will extend to Rajasthan

KOCHI: A case has been registered against a youth who created a fake Telegram account in the name of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. A case was registered against Manraj Meena, a native of Rajasthan. Ernakulam Central Police took action.

Manraj, who created an account on social media using the name and picture of the Chief Minister, spread the link through his WhatsApp number. It is reported that the link has reached many people. This matter came to the attention of the authorities on the 11th of last month.

The police said that they will check whether a fake SIM card was used to create an account in the name of the chief minister and the investigation will be extended to Rajasthan. In 2022, the police had registered a case against a person who tried to extort money by creating a fake WhatsApp account in the name of the Chief Minister.
