Woman CEO irked that court allowed Malayali husband to see son, other reasons behind murder of four-year-old

BENGALURU: The husband of the woman who killed her four-year-old son in a hotel in Goa, put him in a bag and went to Karnataka in a taxi, is a Malayali. Suchana Seth (39), a native of West Bengal and the CEO of Mindful AI Lab, an artificial intelligence startup in Bengaluru, was arrested today for the murder of her own son.

She was arrested at Chitradurga in Karnataka by the police. Her son's body was recovered from the bag. She has been allowed in police custody for six days.

According to the police, Suchana took a room in a hotel in North Goa along with her son on Saturday. She checked out on Monday morning and the hotel authorities arranged a taxi for her to go to Bengaluru. After she left, the staff who came to clean the room saw blood stains. The hotel authorities informed the police and they came and checked the CCTV. Then it became clear that her son was not with her as she left the hotel.

When the police contacted the woman over the phone and asked about her son, she said that she had taken him to her friend's house in Goa. When they asked for her friend's address, she gave a fake one. The police officials then contacted the taxi driver in which she was traveling and asked him to come to the nearest police station immediately. The driver took her to Aimangala police station in Chitradurga.

Suchana Seth, a post graduate in Physics from the University of Kolkata, was a Fellow at the Berkman Klein Center at Harvard University, USA in 2017-18. She lives separately from her husband who is a Malayali businessman. Suchana upset that her husband was allowed to see their son once a week. The police have called her husband who was in Indonesia and are also investigating whether there are other reasons behind the murder.
