IndiGo Airlines grapples with passenger fury over 7-hour delay; Resolves crisis with full refund

NEW DELHI: A young man described his journey on an IndiGo flight as the worst flight of his life. The incident occurred after the flight from Kolkata to Bengaluru was delayed for seven hours, and he missed the international flight he was supposed to take abroad. Despite informing the staff of his situation, the airline staff behaved very poorly.

After the incident was shared on social media X and the post was shared by the young man, IndiGo resolved the issue by refunding the full amount of the ticket. Debargaya Das, a native of Kolkata had to face difficulties due to the flight delay. The incident took place on January 13. The flight, which was supposed to depart from Kolkata airport at 10 pm, took off at 4:41 am. Das informed the staff that he had to go abroad from Bengaluru and if the flight was delayed, he would miss it. When he informed that he wanted to cancel the ticket and take a ticket on another flight, the staff said that the cancellation would not be allowed. Das says that he was treated very badly and did not get any courtesy even after informing them of the difficulties.

Das shared the information on X in harsh language. Das also mocked IndiGo's tagline of always being on time. The post went viral on social media and IndiGo officials intervened in the matter. Saying that they understand the hardship faced by Das, the company cleared the matter by refunding the full amount of the flight ticket.
