Robbery at jewellery owner's house: Jewellery worth Rs 26 lakh and Rs 54,000 missing

KANNUR: A jeweler's house in Kannothumchal was broken into in broad daylight and gold, diamond ornaments and gold bars worth 26.18 lakhs were stolen. The incident took place at Live Shore Apartments in Kannothumchal on Friday afternoon. This is the apartment rented by Nischal Praveen Vasanth, owner of Star Gold Jewelers in Bellard road.

The front door of the house was forced open. Jewelery kept in two drawers of the bedroom cupboard were lost. 432.420 grams of gold ornaments including two Karimani mala, chain, bracelet, ring, one katila and mati, two gold bars of 264.420 grams and four gold bars of 24 grams, two diamond rings and one Navaratna ring were stolen.

Rs 54,000 was also stolen. According to the complaint, the theft took place between 12.30 pm and 5.30 pm on Friday. Kannur town police registered a case and started an investigation. Fingerprint experts conducted an examination. The police said that a theft attempt was made in the adjacent apartment as well.
