Youth dies after being hit by helmet; Five including DYFI leader arrested

ALAPPUZHA: A young man died after being hit on the head by a helmet. The incident took place at Alappuzha Thottapalli following a temple festival. Nandu Sivanand (27) from Anand Bhavan, Thottapalli died.

The attack took place following a clash during the Ottapana Kuruttur temple festival yesterday. Nandu, who was seriously injured, died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ernakulam. Five people including DYFI worker Jagath Suryan were arrested in the case. The first accused in the case is Jagath, who is the regional president of DYFI Thottapally.

Meanwhile, the manager was seriously injured in a shooting at a bar in Alathur, Palakkad. The incident took place last night at a bar in Kavasseri, Alathur. The incident happened in a bar which was opened six months ago.

A group of people came to the bar and an argument with the manager resulted in the shooting. It was said that the service at the bar was bad. This resulted in conflict. Raghunandan, the manager of the bar was shot. The assailants used an air pistol.

Five people have been detained in the incident. The police informed that they are interrogating the accused. Raghunandan was shot in the back. Police said he is undergoing treatment.
