RAIPUR: Three jawans were martyred in an encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh. 14 others were injured. One is in a critical condition. The encounter took place this afternoon on the Bijapur-Sukma border. Based on intelligence inputs about the presence of Maoists in the area, the Army had opened a temporary camp near Gudem village in the south.
The encounter took place when the DRG forces were conducting a joint search. While patrolling here, the Maoists fired at the forces and the forces retaliated. More troops have been deployed in the area.
There was a report by the intelligence agency that the presence of Maoists in the area has increased for a month. Following this, the camp was set up and the inspection was conducted. 14 injured jawans are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Raipur. In 2021, 22 jawans lost their lives in an encounter with Maoists on the Bijapur-Sukma border.
