Youth hacks his divorced sister and her lover to death; keeps severed head of lover on public display

MADURAI: In an incident of honour killing, a youth hacked his sister and her boyfriend to death and later kept the severed head of the boyfriend on public display. The shocking incident took place at Koodakoil near Tirumangalam in the Madurai district. It was wiring worker Praveen Kumar who hacked his sister Mahalakshmi and her lover Satheesh Kumar (26) to death. Satheesh Kumar was from a different caste.

Mahalakshmi had been in love with Satheesh Kumar for several years. However, their marriage did not take place due to strong opposition from the family members. Mahalakshmi then got married to another person three years ago. However, she later got divorced and came back home and continued her relationship with Satheesh. Although Praveen warned his sister and Satheesh to put an end to the relationship, they ignored it. This is what led to the murder.

According to the police, Praveen attacked Satheesh while he was returning after work. After throwing chilli powder at Satheesh, Praveen hacked him repeatedly to death. He then severed his head and kept the severed head on a stage near a temple on public display. Praveen then went home and hacked his sister. He also attacked his mother who tried to protect his sister. Praveen fled the spot soon after the incident. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
