THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The lucky winner of the Christmas-New Year bumper has been found. A 33-year-old businessman from Pondicherry won the prize. He took the ticket from Thiruvananthapuram while going to Sabarimala. He has reached the lottery directorate with the ticket.

The first prize of Rs 20 crore was for the Christmas-New year bumper ticket taken from the lottery shop Lakshmi Centre which is in the east nada of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple. The prize is for the ticket XC 224091. It was P Shajahan, owner of Winstar lottery agency, who bought the ticket from the lottery department. Dorairaj, owner of Lakshmy Centre, bought the ticket from there. The winner was not identified as many from other states visiting Padmanabhaswamy Temple buy tickets. Keralites from other districts and people from the capital city buy bumper tickets from here.

Dorairaj said that this is the first time that he is getting such a big prize for the ticket he sold. He has been going to Palakkad for fifteen years to buy tickets. Dorairaj will get ten percent agency commission of Rs 2 crore.

M Shahjahan, a native of Palakkad Ayyapuram Shasthapuri, has been selling lottery tickets for 20 years. There are six shops at Stadium Stand, G B Road and Olavakod. In 2012, he got an alto car for Thiruvonam bumper. Nearly 40,000 tickets were sold for the Christmas-New Year bumper alone from here.
