THRISSUR: A video of mahouts brutally thrashing elephants at Guruvayur Anakottai has surfaced. The visuals of beating the elephants Krishna and Keshavan Kutty when brought to bathe at Sheeveliparambu were out. It is clear from the footage that the mahouts are brutally thrashing the elephants while bathing them.

Krishna is an elephant offered by late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. The mahout is seen brutally thrashing the elephant for not lying down to bathe. The footage also shows beating Kesavan to make it stand. The video covers three incidents.

After the visuals of the attack surfaced, the Anakottai is being criticized. The Guruvayur devaswom ordered a probe following the incident. The doctors submitted a report after examining the elephants. The Guruvayur Devaswom will take further action after studying the report. However, the explanation of the authorities in Anakottai is that these are not recent visuals but old ones.
