'Samaragni yatra' off to a bright start in Kasaragod

KASARAGOD: The ‘Samaragni’ Agitation Yatra led by President K. Sudhakaran and Opposition Leader V. D. Satheesan under the auspices of KPCC against the Central and State Government's atrocities, got off to a bright start from Kasaragod on Friday.

AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal inaugurated the Yatra by handing over the flag to the other leaders.

Venugopal while addressing the event said that Modi’s touted ‘guarantee’ is to divide the people of India.

Rajmohan Unnithan MP presided over the event. AICC General Secretary Deepa DasMunshi, AICC Member Ramesh Chennithala, UDF Convener MM Hassan, Kodikunnil Suresh, T. Siddique, Soni Sebastian, P.K. Faisal also spoke at the function.

On Saturday at 10 am, the congress leaders will interact with the public in a meeting planned at the Kasaragod Municipal Mini Conference Hall.

About 200 people have been invited to the discussion, including endosulfan victims, farmers facing wildlife problems, those who are in trouble without getting social security pensions, and those who are suffering from the effects of the Coastal Management Act. A total of 30 meetings will be held in 14 districts. The Samaragni Jatha will conclude on the 29th in Thiruvananthapuram.
