Awe-inspiring sights come to an end; Global Science Fest concludes

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Global Science Festival, which had been going on for the past one month, has concluded at the Bio 360 Life Science Park in Thonnakkal. The curated science exhibition at the festival, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on January 15, started only on January 20 due to technical reasons. Around one lakh people have seen the show so far.

Yesterday evening, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visited the fest. The Chief Minister visited the Museum of the Moon and Mars, a model of the ship HMS Beagle and a model of a dinosaur skeleton, which were part of a curated science exhibition. He also witnessed the time travel into the human past.

Chief Minister's Scientific Advisor Dr MC Dathan, Ex-officio Principal Secretary of the Science and Technology Department Dr KP Sudhir, GSFK Festival Director Dr Ajith Kumar and Curator Vaisakhan Thampi accompanied the Chief Minister. District Collector Geromic George and others came to see the festival on the last day.

Nobel Laureate Morton P. Meldal, Scientist Madhulika Guhathakurta from NASA and scientists from NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory participated in various sessions. The sessions attended by 'India's waterman' Dr Rajendra Singh and Kanimozhi Karunanidhi MP were also notable.

Ready to host festival in coming years
The fest coordinators said that although there was a plan to extend the fest till the 20th of this month, the decision was abandoned as the tender for the stalls was ending. There was some confusion in the beginning when the exhibition was held for a month in more than 25 pavilions. The organizers said that they are willing to host the fest in the coming years as well.
