KOZHIKODE: A verbal altercation broke out today at the PTA meeting held at the Nedumannur LP School in Kuttiadi. The school had recently courted controversy by performing a pooja. The verbal altercation took place between the school manager's son Rudeesh, PTA members and public workers. Following this, the police intervened and solved the issue.
CPM and DYFI workers had come out in protest after a pooja was performed at the school under the leadership of Rudeesh after the completion of the construction of a building in the school. Following this, a PTA meeting was called in the school. During the meeting, a dispute broke out over Rudeesh's participation in the meeting. Soon, the police intervened and made Rudeesh participate in the meeting by pointing out that he was a PTA member.
The PTA meeting also decided to open the school from Saturday. The meeting was held with the participation of people's representatives. Headmistress TK Sajitha told the media that the decision was taken in the all-party meeting to open the school from Saturday.
After the meeting, CPM organized a public meeting in the school premises. It has demanded strict action against the culprits. The Education Department assesses that the pooja was performed in violation of the law. Meanwhile, the Education Minister's office has sought a report from the Director of Public Education.
