NEW DELHI: CPI general secretary D Raja dismissed reports that the party did not get enough support from the CPM in Kerala in the Lok Sabha elections. In a press conference where the decisions of the National Executive meeting were explained, he also said that both the parties faced the election together.

Raja said the three-day national executive discussed the poor performance of Left parties in Kerala. It is being examined whether anti-incumbency sentiment contributed to the defeat. Annie Raja's candidature in Wayanad is a unanimous decision of the party. There are no problems within the party regarding that. It was a tough fight in Thrissur where the BJP candidate won. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's many visits to Thrissur yielded results.

Seat division in the 'INDIA' front

The meeting congratulated the people of India for foiling the conspiracy hatched by the BJP to change the Constitution. However, the performance of the 'INDIA' bloc could have improved further if there had been proper seat allocation and mutual understanding between the parties. Despite the crisis, the front emerged strong. The party will stand strong with the 'INDIA' coalition as the BJP may continue to pursue hateful and polarizing politics even though they lost their sole majority.

The meeting expressed concern that the Left Party was limited to nine seats. The National Council approved measures to strengthen the party and the movement. The proceedings in this regard will be initiated from December 26, 2024, in connection with the 100th anniversary of the formation of the party. The party will conduct agitations related to the basic life issues of the people directly and in collaboration with the Left parties. The party will continue to strive for communist and broad-left unity.
