THRISSUR: KPCC president K Sudhakaran has stated that the upcoming parliamentary elections pose a significant challenge to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's political career. Speaking at a press conference during the Samaragni yathra in Thrissur, Sudhakaran emphasized a decline in support for Vijayan within the CPM following Karnataka High Court verdict.

Sudhakaran highlighted the diminishing backing for Vijayan within the CPM ranks citing a lack of vocal support from party leaders amidst legal controversies. He pointed out the silence of prominent figures like AK Balan and CPM State Secretary MV Govindan, attributing it to potential repercussions for aligning with Vijayan amid ongoing investigations.

KPCC president accused Vijayan of prioritizing political interests over the state's welfare, particularly in the Vizhinjam port project, alleging a compromise between the CPM and the BJP. Sudhakaran asserted that such alliances would face public backlash, with sentiments favoring the UDF and the Indian National Congress.

Issues such as the Karuvannoor scandal, suspension of PSC appointments, cultural sector corruption, wildlife disturbances, toll controversies, delayed paddy payments, labor stagnation and tribal concerns were raised during public discussions along the Samaragni route. Sudhakaran underscored the grievances of retirees and beneficiaries awaiting government support, emphasizing the widespread discontent captured by the Samaragni protest journey.
