THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The High Court has ordered a CBI investigation into the mysterious death of a 13-year-old girl who was found unconscious in the toilet of Thiruvananthapuram police quarters. The court ordered the case to be handed over to the CBI after discerning the failure of police to not arrest the accused even eight months after the incident.
Justice Bechu Kurian directed the CBI to take up the investigation quickly. Earlier, the post-mortem report also revealed that the victim had been subjected to continuous torture. The court's decision came while considering the petition filed by the victim’s mother.
It was on March 29, 2023, that the girl was found unconscious in the bathroom at the police quarters. She was rushed to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. However, on April 1, she died while undergoing treatment.
The girl was staying with her parents in the police quarters. The post-mortem report revealed that the girl was subjected to continuous torture. The museum police failed to arrest the culprit even after eight months into the investigation. With this, the child's mother reached the court demanding CBI intrusion in the case.
