vehicle

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The transport commissioner has issued a circular stating that if an application is received through the 'Vahan' portal to register a new vehicle, the number must be allotted within two working days. Departmental disciplinary action will be taken against the defaulting officers. In case of rejection of the application, it should be clearly recorded.

To register a vehicle in the name of a company head, Aadhaar and PAN details shouldn't be insisted while applying. Further action should be taken by including the PAN and TAN information of the institutions.

Nominee is not mandatory in the application. ID proof should be requested only if the name of the nominee is available. Those with other state address working in Kerala should be allowed registration on submission of proof of temporary address along with copy of Aadhaar. Employees of government/public sector Institutions should also have office identification card – post, address, date of issue, or certificate from head of office. The guidelines will come into effect from March 1.
