‘Girl discontinued studies following karate master’s sexual harassment, informed Childline twice,’ reveals teacher

MALAPPURAM: A teacher came forward revealing more about the death of the 17-year-old girl in Edavannappara. He said the girl discontinued her studies following the harassment of her karate master Siddique Ali. He also added that he had informed ChildLine twice.

'She excelled in her studies and other extra-curricular activities. We talked to her after noticing some changes in her behavior. She then narrated some ordeals she went through. We then told her that this is a serious matter and asked her not to worry and that she will be protected. She was subjected for a counselling and the madam wrote down everything. When the police started investigating this, she again went into difficulty. She got the TC, but went for tuition. Her studies are going on but she is staying away from school.

The case was re-opened then. She used to say at times that if action is taken against him, she will get peace, the teacher told the media. The teachers said that TC was given when she was firm in that. They also alleged that there is a mystery in the death of the seventeen-year-old girl.
