Resignation before expulsion process; Open University VC Mubarak Pasha tenders his resignation to Governor

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mubarak Pasha, the first Vice-Chancellor of Sree Narayanaguru Open University, has tendered his resignation to Governor Arif Mohammed Khan. The Governor had decided to hold a hearing of four VCs, including Mubarak Pasha, as part of the expulsion process. However, the VC submitted his resignation before the hearing. The Governor has not yet decided on the resignation.

Meanwhile, the Governor held a hearing of VCs today. He had directed the Vice Chancellors of the Calicut, Sanskrit, Digital and Open Universities V to appear in person at Raj Bhavan. Among them, Digital University VC and advocate of Calicut VC appeared in person. The advocate of Sanskrit University VC appeared online. UGC Joint Secretary also attended the hearing. The UGC representative pointed out that all three VCs do not have the qualification as per UGC regulation.
