High Court stay on Secretariat Law Department promotion list amid seniority dispute

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The High Court has stayed the promotion list prepared by the Department Promotion Committee of the Secretariat Law Department. List was also directed to appear in court today. The seniority dispute between those who were appointed as legal assistants in the law department through bytransfer from other departments reached the court. With this, the promotion of around 50 people appointed through PSC to other posts has been blocked.

Recruitment for the post of Legal Assistant was done in 2010 through PSC and through Bytransfer list prepared by IMG directly. IMG listers were the first to be appointed. The seniority dispute between them reached the Administrative Tribunal in 2017, but after not getting a favorable verdict, they filed an appeal in the High Court. The promotion list was stayed on this appeal.
