THIRUVANAN: Opposition leader VD Satheesan said that the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will have only two seats in the Lok Sabha polls this time. "The difficulty in giving a third seat has been communicated to the league. The next Rajya Sabha seat will be given to the IUML and they have accepted the formula," Satheesan said.
"UDF seat allotment has been completed. The league will compete in Malappuram and Ponnani. The decision was taken after all the Congress leaders consulted each other. It also has the approval of the national leadership," Satheesan added.
"It has not even been announced when the elections will be held. The LDF had concluded the talks five days ago. Congress will announce candidates in the first week of March. There is a definite understanding in that regard," he added.
The IUML had earlier demanded a third seat in the Lok Sabha elections. MPs ET Mohammed Basheer and Abdul Samadani are contestants from the League. Abdul Samadani is MP from Malappuram. But considering ET Mohammed Basheer's health condition, this seat may be given to him. Instead, Abdul Samadani will contest from Ponnani.
