cpm

KOLLAM: A complaint has been lodged against a CPM local committee member for hurling abuses against a woman and her family on the social media. The woman, a branch committee member of Sasthamcotta and secretary of Ksheera Sangham, filed a complaint against the local committee member with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and head of the state police.

The complainant, wife of CPM Sooranad area committee member, had posted on social media expressing her support for left candidates contesting the Lok Sabha elections. The local committee member hurled abuses on the woman and her husband on social media while commenting on her post.

There has been some factionalism in the CPM in Sooranad North Panchayat for qute some time. The Congress had wrested the administration of the Ksheera Co-operative Society which was under the rule of the CPM for some time. The inclusion of a CPM leader in Sooranad Govt HSS PTA by violating the norms also led to controversy. Abuses were hurled on social media following that.

The woman responded that legal and party actions should be assured against the local committee member for insulting her and her family on social media.
