KOTTAYAM: Not all are elated with BJP’s first list of candidate announcements in Kerala, and definitely not P C George, who recently merged his party into BJP with high hopes about getting a seat from Pathanamthitta in the 2024 LS polls.
“The constituency does not know Anil Antony. The people of Pathanamthitta wanted me to contest. I will have to work double more than what I did for my election campaign, to help people get familiar with the BJP candidate and it is such a humiliation. I still understand Anil Antony’s special love for Pathanamthitta. K Surendran and PS Sreedharan Pillai were ideal candidates who could have made the fight tough in Pathanamthitta. That is my only worry and sadness, but let us try.” P C George said.
P C George later made a sly remark at Anil’s candidature saying he would support whichever ‘broom’ the party selects for Pathanamthitta.
“If you stop ten people and ask who is Anil Antony, nobody is going to give you the right answer. Bishops and NSS leadership wanted PS Sreedharan Pillai to be the candidate. It is a shame that Mr Pillai was denied this seat. What will I say to the people of the district now?” opined P C George.
