Malayali youth held for pouring acid on three girls in Mangaluru

MANGALURU: A Malayali youth has been arrested for an acid attack towards college students in Karnataka. The Kadaba police arrested Abhi (23), an MBA student and a native of Nilambur. The youth wearing a mask and cap to conceal his identity came near a 17-year-old girl and poured acid on her.

Three students of Kadaba Government College in Dakshina Kannada sustained injuries in the attack. They have been identified as Aleena, Archana and Amrita. They are also hinted as Malayalees. The incident happened when they were preparing for exams sitting in the balcony of the college. The acid attack was just before they entered the exam hall.

The students admitted at the Kadaba Government Hospital in a serious condition was later shifted to a private hospital in Mangalore. The police confirmed the attack was over a love failure. The accused aimed at one but two others who were sitting next to her suffered the burn injuries. The accused tried to escape after the attack but other students of the college and authorities chased him and handed him over to the police.
